Regent Square Roofs, Done Right the First Time

Alan Construction has been replacing and repairing roofs in Regent Square and across Pittsburgh since 2003. Most of our roof replacements are finished in a single day, with the yard cleaned and the magnet run before we leave.

We have not posted a finished Regent Square job yet, so the photos on this page are from roofs our own crew replaced in nearby Pittsburgh neighborhoods. No stock photography.

What Regent Square Roofs Are Actually Like

Regent Square is one neighborhood spread across four municipalities: parts of Pittsburgh, Edgewood, Swissvale and Wilkinsburg.

Because the borough lines run through it, two houses on the same block can answer to different permit offices. We sort that out up front so the job starts on time.

What We Find Under Regent Square Shingles

Once the old roof is off we can see the whole deck. Any board or sheet that has gone soft gets cut out and replaced before anything new goes down, because a new roof is only as solid as what it is nailed to.

Then the roof gets ice and water protection at the eaves and valleys, synthetic underlayment across the rest, new drip edge and fresh flashing, so water has a clean path off the roof.

What Pittsburgh Homeowners Say

Alan Construction did a great job on our roof! They communicated well, got the job done in one day, and quoted me a fair price. I had part of my roof done a few years ago and they matched the shingle color exactly. They also sealed a vent for me on the part of the roof they weren't responsible for at no cost. My parents are getting their roof done next year and will definitely be using Alan Construction! I highly recommend.

Great group of workers. They were in and out in 1 day. The cleanup was spotless as well. They left no nails in my rock bed or grass

What a positive experience! Alan was thorough in his assessment of my roof, while providing a transparent explanation along with a fair estimate for replacement. He sent a hard working team, lead by Fernando, to execute one hell of a single-day job with minimal interruption. Everyone was professional and courteous every step of the way. I cannot recommend more highly!

Roofing Questions in Regent Square

Regent Square spans parts of Pittsburgh, Edgewood, Swissvale and Wilkinsburg, so the permit office depends on which side of the line your house sits on. We check which one applies to your address and take care of the permit when one is needed.

Yes. We also handle siding, seamless gutters, soffit and fascia, and replacement windows.

It is hard on a roof. Pittsburgh averages a little over 44 inches of snow a year and roughly 114 nights at or below freezing, but only about 32 days that stay below freezing all day. That means something like 80 days a year where water melts and refreezes. Freeze and thaw cycling is what works shingles loose, opens up flashing and finds any weak spot at a valley or a chimney.
