This brick Cape Cod in Brentwood had an aging red shingle roof. In March 2025 our crew tore it off, installed new underlayment and finished the house with dark architectural shingles that suit the brick and the dormers.
Brentwood is a South Hills borough with streets full of brick Cape Cods and small two story homes. Cape Cods have steep, short slopes broken up by dormers, which means more valleys, more flashing and more places for water to get in. This home had two front dormers and a brick chimney, all of which needed careful work during the replacement.

The old red shingles had turned brittle and were breaking apart as they came off. Brittle shingles crack in the wind and cold, and on a Cape Cod the water they let in runs straight toward the dormers and chimney. A full replacement put new shingles and new underlayment around every one of those spots.

It takes more care. The dormers and steep slopes add valleys and flashing work, but most Cape Cods are still finished in a day or two.
Yes. This home went from red shingles to a dark color that suits the brick. We bring samples to the estimate.
Yes. We work in Brentwood, Baldwin, Whitehall, Dormont, Mount Lebanon, Bethel Park and nearby.
Most asphalt shingle roofs last 20 to 30 years. Good ventilation and sound flashing around the dormers help a Cape Cod roof reach the long end of that range.
